Tellemachus are awarded major Cumbria CCTV Project 17th November 2014

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria has awarded the contract for the implementation of a state-of-the-art CCTV system to cover the key locations across the whole of Cumbria.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Richard Rhodes said: “I am pleased to announce that Tellemachus Limited has been awarded the contract to implement, operate and maintain an innovative county wide CCTV solution for a period of seven years. The new system of 53 cameras will be implemented and operational in 2015. The contract value for the seven year duration is likely to reach £2.5M, with options to extend the solution at a future date. The CCTV project is a good example of the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner, Cumbria Constabulary and the six district councils working together in collaboration furthering public safety.”

Chief Constable Jerry Graham said: “I am pleased with how the CCTV project is developing and the signing of the contract is an important step in providing the best CCTV system for Cumbria we can afford. CCTV will help us to keep Cumbria a safe place to live, work and visit. The CCTV system has been designed for future expansion as appropriate and if additional funding becomes available. The new system will provide consistent and improved CCTV coverage across Cumbria. CCTV is an important tool to help solve crime and keep our local communities safe.”

Tellemachus Managing Director Peter Wood said “We are extremely pleased to have been awarded this high profile and important project and we look forward to working with Cumbria Constabulary in order to implement and support this critical public asset. This solution utilises our 20 years of expertise in IT, Communications and CCTV and we believe other Police Forces and Local Authorities will need to adopt similar innovation if they are to keep communities safe during the current austere times. Throughout the tender process we demonstrated our innovative and flexible approach along with technical excellence and proven delivery capability and this has allowed us to win a very competitive European tender”.
