Motorola Solutions COVID-19 Response Technologies

We understand workplaces have an increased responsibility to ensure the health and safety of staff and customers, and businesses continue to explore technologies to support this effort.
Motorola Solutions technologies leverage Avigilon AI-powered video analytics for social distancing, face mask detection, contact tracing, occupancy counting and thermal screening to help increase workplace safety.
As the news about their technologies has spread, the interest and request for more detail has been overwhelming and we would like to share an update for each of the solutions and also share information on the latest technology for occupancy counting.
Occupancy Counting, Social Distancing, Face Mask Detection Analytics
Motorola Solutions tools for occupancy counting, social distancing and face mask detection combine video with AI-powered analytics to collect visual footage and statistical patterns on how people in a workplace are complying with policies around max occupancy rates, social distancing and the use of face masks. Data for all three technologies can be accessed through dashboard reports in the Avigilon Cloud Services (ACS) platform. For example:
- Occupancy counting will display the number of people inside a facility based on strategically placed cameras installed at entry and exit points of the facility. The net total occupancy is displayed on a dashboard in ACS and can also be publicly displayed on a tablet placed at entry points to manage traffic. Based on a set occupancy limit being reached or not, the tablet can be triggered to display instructions to permit entry (e.g. green light) or wait (e.g. red light).
- Face mask detection and social distancing violations will display in a dashboard in ACS to show the times and camera locations in the format of timeline histograms where violations are most prevalent. As an added safety measure, face mask detection can also be configured as alarms, displayed prominently in our Focus of Attention interface to notify the operator for live monitoring and response purposes.
These solutions will be available at no additional cost for customers on the latest version of the VMS platform, Avigilon Control Centre (ACC) 7.
Thermal Screening
Motorola Solutions is also actively testing the use of security-grade thermal temperature sensing cameras to potentially provide high-throughput screening for persons with elevated skin temperatures at the workplace as a precursor to additional screening. This product is not yet available, but Motorola Solutions are currently investigating potential solutions. This camera will be distinct from the existing H4 Thermal camera, and as such, will be listed as its own SKU number.
Contact Tracing
The new Identity Correlation Report, offered at no additional cost within the Access Control Manager (ACM) solution, provides a reliable tool to help with contact tracing throughout a facility. Identity Correlation Reports will list all locations in a secured site where a potentially infected person has been, along with any people who have been in the same locations within a specified period of time. Unification with video security can help validate report details with video evidence. Identity Search can confirm the doors that the person in question attempted to access. Search can be expanded with Avigilon Appearance Search™ technology to understand other areas of the facility where the person may have visited. Identity Correlation Reports will be available in ACM™ 6.6 scheduled for release on June 8.
Body-worn Cameras
Essential workers that face the risk of aggression or violence can be equipped with body-worn cameras that help deter aggression while also capturing evidential footage. The body-worn cameras are available today in the US, EU and EFTA countries.
